Publication Ethics & Malpractice Statement The International Journal of Islamic Studies UK (IJOIS) is a peer-reviewed, open-access academic journal committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics, academic integrity, and professional responsibility. The journal follows a double-blind peer-review system and adheres to internationally recognized ethical principles and best practices recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). IJOIS is dedicated to ensuring the publication of original, credible, and ethically sound scholarly research. Any manuscript found to violate ethical standards—including plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, citation manipulation, or unethical research conduct—may be rejected, retracted, or removed at any stage of the publication process, including after publication. The journal reserves the right to screen all submissions using plagiarism-detection software such as Turnitin or equivalent systems. Ethical Guidelines for Journal Publication The publication of an article in IJOIS represents a significant contribution to global scholarship in Islamic Studies and related interdisciplinary fields. It reflects the academic integrity, scholarly quality, and ethical commitment of authors, reviewers, editors, and affiliated institutions. To uphold these standards, the journal establishes the following ethical responsibilities for all parties involved in the publication process. The Editorial Team ensures that all editorial decisions remain independent and are not influenced by commercial interests, sponsorship, advertising, institutional pressure, or personal considerations. IJOIS values transparency, confidentiality, fairness, and professionalism throughout the editorial and review process. Duties of Authors Authors submitting manuscripts to IJOIS are expected to: Ensure that submitted work is original, authentic, and free from plagiarism. Confirm that the manuscript has not been previously published or simultaneously submitted to another journal. Properly acknowledge all sources through accurate citations and references. Present truthful data, findings, and analysis without fabrication or manipulation. Obtain necessary permissions for copyrighted material where applicable. Ensure that all listed authors have significantly contributed to the research and approve the final manuscript. Conduct careful language, formatting, and content review before submission. Promptly inform the Editorial Team if significant errors or inaccuracies are discovered after submission or publication. Comply with ethical research standards involving human participants, sensitive materials, or institutional requirements where applicable. Submit manuscripts exclusively through the journal’s official submission system. Duties of the Editorial Board The Editorial Board of IJOIS is responsible for: Ensuring a fair, unbiased, transparent, and timely peer-review process. Evaluating manuscripts solely on the basis of academic merit, originality, relevance, and ethical compliance. Maintaining confidentiality regarding submitted manuscripts and reviewer identities. Preventing conflicts of interest in editorial handling and publication decisions. Supervising the integrity and quality of the peer-review process. Taking appropriate action in cases of suspected ethical misconduct or malpractice. Ensuring consistency, academic quality, and professionalism in all editorial decisions. Allowing the Editor-in-Chief to coordinate and oversee the final publication process to maintain scholarly integrity and coherence. Duties of Reviewers Reviewers participating in the evaluation process are expected to: Review manuscripts objectively, professionally, and without personal bias or discrimination. Maintain strict confidentiality regarding manuscript content and review discussions. Provide constructive, evidence-based, and well-reasoned feedback to improve the scholarly quality of submissions. Inform the Editor of any suspected plagiarism, ethical concerns, or substantial overlap with previously published work. Decline review assignments if they lack relevant expertise or cannot complete the review within the required timeframe. Avoid reviewing manuscripts where conflicts of interest may compromise impartiality. Plagiarism Policy IJOIS maintains a strict anti-plagiarism policy. All submitted manuscripts are subject to similarity screening through Turnitin or equivalent plagiarism-detection software before peer review and prior to publication. Manuscripts containing unacceptable similarity levels, uncredited content, or unethical citation practices may be rejected immediately or returned for correction. Open Access Policy IJOIS is an open-access journal committed to the free dissemination of academic knowledge worldwide. All published content is freely accessible online without subscription or access fees, allowing readers, researchers, and institutions to benefit from unrestricted scholarly exchange. Article Processing Charges (APCs) The International Journal of Islamic Studies UK (IJOIS) welcomes submissions from scholars and researchers worldwide without any article submission charges. The journal currently does not charge fees for online access to published articles. Any future publication or printing-related charges, if applicable, will be clearly communicated through the journal’s official website and editorial office.
